The JISAO postdoctoral program provides funding to maintain 2-3 postdocs in residence at any given time on one-year appointments, which are ordinarily renewable for a second year. These positions are funded by the NOAA Environmental Research Laboratories, the NOAA Office of Global Programs, and subsidized by the University of Washington through the waiver of indirect costs. Postdoc recruitment is restricted to JISAO's principal research themes: climate dynamics and global environmental chemistry. JISAO postdocs work at the University of Washington and are encouraged to define their own research programs. They have opportunities to collaborate with university faculty and/or PMEL scientists, or they may choose to work independently.
JISAO postdoctoral positions are advertised in EOS (American Geophysical Union), the Jobs Bulletin (American Meteorological Society), and are listed here as they become available. An interested individual can also be notified of vacancies within the next year by contacting Mary Smith at mchsmith@u.washington.edu. Applicants are asked to prepare brief proposals describing the research that they would like to pursue as a JISAO postdoc.
